Your corporate aircraft liability policy does not provide workers'
compensation coverage for your flight department. You may be legally
and ethically required to purchase a separate workers' compensation
policy for your pilots and maintenance personnel. Workers'
Compensation coverage protects your employees or others in the event
that they are injured while acting on your behalf. It is closely
regulated, and claims that are or should be
covered by workers' compensation are not covered by other policies.
Part-time, contract and seasonal employees can further complicate the
matter. Be sure you have a workers' compensation expert on your side,
or you could face a costly audit or state fine.
Workers' Compensation:
Employee and contractor pilots need workers' compensation insurance.
ZANETTE has an array of programs, including the NATA, NBAA and Cessna
Affiliates workers' comp programs, to make this coverage simple and
cost-effective.
Pilot and Crew Occupational Disability
Insurance: Disability coverage for professional pilots
and
crew members when they are unable to perform their normal flight duties.
Deletion of Fellow Employee Exclusion:
Most
standard policies exclude liability coverage for a claim from an
injured employee against another employee of the same employer. The
Workers Compensation exclusion and most state laws preclude an injured
employee from making a claim against his employer if he is injured on
the job. However, the pilot, if a fellow employee, could be vulnerable
in such an event. Since the pilot is often a likely candidate for a
liability claim, the deletion of this standard exclusion can provide
liability protection for him that would not otherwise exist.
Occasionally your usual crew may not be available. We get fast approval
for replacement pilots so your flight departs on schedule.
